The Monumental Cemetery is more than just a cemetery. The huge number of sculptures and monuments built for the graves of the rich and famous in Milan has transformed the cemetery into a rather impressive open-air museum. Take underground line 5 (purple) and get off at Monumentale stop.
The “Duomo” Cathedral is literally in the center of Milan. Streets radiate from the cathedral or circle it. The cathedral occupies a site that has been the most central location in the city since its founding. The Duomo Cathedral dominates the crowded square, always full of shoppers, tourists, street artists and eclectic people. It is possible to visit it inside and on top up to the “Madonnina” and snooping in the “Museo del Duomo”. The square is surrounded by bars, cafés and boutiques. Between the Cathedral and the Scala Opera House stands the famous Gallery Vittorio Emanuele II, a magnificent shopping arcade in Milan, covered with a glass and iron roof. Brera District Brera Museum Navigli District If you love art go to Brera District (metro line 2 stop Lanza) and enjoy visiting the “Pinacoteca di Brera” (Brera Museum). Then take the metro line 2 (green) get off at Porta Genova, to go to the Navigli rivers. This area is a way to see a different Milan! So, you can see an artistic and beautiful area of Milan called “Navigli “. Walking on the towpath of the “Naviglio Grande” you will encounter a bustling and a bit bohemian neighbourhood: the courtyards that inter-connect in a maze of little alleyways and streets are home to art galleries, antique dealers and bookshops, crowded with trendy restaurants, boutiques and ethnic markets.
